Mark Warren
Board President
Mark’s family has been in East Boston since the end of the Civil War. He has been devoted to the creation and maintenance of the Mary Ellen Welch Greenway since 1994. As an attorney and former Assistant Corporation Counsel for the City of Boston, he was instrumental in the establishment of the Friends of the East Boston Greenway, Inc. He is honored to serve the residents of East Boston as the President of the Friends of the Mary Ellen Welch Greenway, Inc.

Samantha Wu-Topolski
Board Treasurer
Samantha Wu-Topolski has been a dedicated resident of East Boston for twelve years. Her commitment to local engagement is demonstrated through her extensive volunteer work, one of them including three years of service as school family council treasurer. Samantha Wu-Topolski is deeply invested in fostering strong community and family connections. She is honored to serve the residents of East Boston as the treasurer of the Friends of the Mary Ellen Welch Greenway, Inc.

Dennis Sullivan
Board Secretary
The son of European immigrants and a life-long resident of Middlesex and Suffolk counties, Dennis and his family moved to East Boston in 2015. His involvement with Eastie began back in 1970 after high school as a longshoreman unloading cargo from ships at East Boston Pier 3 (where the Tall Ship is now) and turned recreational in 1995 when Piers Park opened. Since moving to Jeffries Point, Dennis and his wife, Lily, quickly became avid fans and frequent users of the Greenway. Dennis increased his involvement by attending the Friends’ community network meetings, then serving on the Events Committee and the Eastie Weeks team. He joined the Friends of the Mary Ellen Welch as Board Clerk and Chair of its Resiliency Committee in 2024, having retired in 2022 from his long-held responsibilities as a corporate finance and technology executive, and his parallel career as a college professor and symphonic musician playing percussion in Boston’s premier orchestras. In addition to their love of international travel – and a testament to it – he and Lily own and operate AHA Tours and FETI Travel based in Boston and Shanghai, while continuing to mentor young adults and actively support cultural and humanitarian organizations here and abroad.
