In addition to the beloved annual luminaria event, this year’s celebration featured a festive holiday performance by Sweet Harmony of Riverside Theater Works in Hyde Park, presented in partnership with the Trustees One Waterfront.

The highlight of the day was a special visit from Santa Claus, who delighted children by handing out goody bags filled with treats, including a free ride on the Rose Kennedy Greenway carousel! The Friends of the Mary Ellen Welch Greenway collaborated with Massport to make the event extra special. To end the evening, Santa boarded an exclusive MBTA Blue Line “Santa Express” train to Maverick Station, where families joined in singing Christmas carols along the way.

The Friends of the Mary Ellen Welch Greenway extend their heartfelt thanks to Massport, MBTA, Trustees One Waterfront, State Representative Adrian Madaro, East Boston Holiday Light Committee, Gemini Digital, and the Rose Kennedy Greenway for their generous support.
