Causes of Stormwater Flooding
- High water table and low infiltration rates
- Drainage pipes emptying into the Harbor (fill up at high tide)
- Low elevation of the Greenway
- Impervious surfaces and run off at adjacent properties
- Limited capacity of existing BPRD Pump
Solutions to Stormwater Flooding
- Reduce storm water & coastal flooding
- Provide cool spots along greenway to mitigate Urban Heat Island
- Promote tree health
- Decreased impervious surfaces
- Elevate portions of the pathway / bridging over wet areas
- Coordinate with abutters on containing runoff on site
